The Good, the Better, and the Disappointing

Out of the blue last week an employer I interviewed with last fall asked me to come in for an interview. Cool. Made the short list before the position was announced to the world. Interviewed on Wednesday and was told thanks but no thanks yesterday. Appears I didn't impress the team lead. Easy come, easy go. Looks like I'll be in the ranks of the unemployed for a little longer. At least it was quick. On the bright side, there's been more jobs to apply for lately, let's hope it's a trend.

For the second time in my life I've caught up from being 4 or more years behind on my income tax. Don't ask me to explain it, there's no rational explanation. Why do people with high cholesterol or diabetes eat bad food? In addition to the satisfaction of being caught up (not) I'm starting to get refunds, woo-who!!!! I'm a bit too conservative to go on a spending spree but I have a couple selected big ticket items I'm planning to add to my toy collection.

A friend from out of town dropped by yesterday and we went for sushi, looked at the toy I'm thinking of buying with my tax refund, then went for coffee and dessert. It was a glorious spring day. Good food, good company, good weather, it couldn't get much better. Part of me isn't unhappy about being unemployed for a while longer.

Big Turkey Feed - Burps at 11

A big thanks to my sister for the big turkey feed. Living on my own I don't tend to roast things, especially things that can take 20 man (person) days to finish eating! It was nice getting away for a couple of days. A couple of days was just about right. More would have been too long.

Driving the Coqahalla was interesting. Just west of the toll booth there's still lots of snow, to the tune of 7 or 8 feet, along the sides of the road. Wee. It was like driving in a video game.

I finished a Java programming course I was taking. It went well, I really enjoyed it. Maybe it's the name. What ever. I've signed up for the next course in the sequence. Damned if there wasn't a bump in the road, the time slot I wanted is cancelled and I have to pick a new time. Oh joy. I can choose from Saturday morning, Friday mid day or Tuesday evening. Saturday morning would be a disaster and I don't want to go down town mid-day. Decision made.
